well..im a little confused..if ur asking about feedback about ur the mic placement in ur mp3 or if ur just asking in general, but regardless..today i happened to have been messing around with my setup, but still found that my current setup is the best. Have a dynamic mic in the cone, pretty close to the amp itself...that gets the clearest, brightest sound. ALl the others i tried(side of cone, facing in..top of cone, facing towards center) just dont sound so clear. But if you do that, your also gonna want to have a condenser microphone behind it..(I use an MXL 990, about 5-7 inches away from dynamic mic)...to pick up the mid/low sounds...and ambient sounds. Thats how do my recordings...also my dynamic mic is a digital reference mic(getting an SM57 soon enough..hopefully haha). Hope that helps

within that mp3 im gonna post i had a question about mic placement because of the way it sounded -

When you record your guitars, how high are the levels on the amp when recording? Also, is this how you do your distorted guitar tracks? If so, what kind of level of o/d do you use compared to a live situation? This has been an ongoing issue with my setup...

Sorry if I just hijacked this thread... :o :(

when i record it is low -

the gain is almost nil

the distortion is simulated Solo Rectifier Mesa Boogie via GNX3 thru a marshall 1/2 stack 100 watt MG100HDFX
