Hello everyone. I'm just trying to get started with pc recording here.

I should not use the mic input on the sound card. Ok, but:

I just bought an in-line low-to-high transformer for my low impedance AKG? Do I still need a mic preamp?

Is that in addition to the transformer, or instead of the transformer?

The line input on soundcards are stereo, aren't they? Which side do you send the mic to, right or left. Or does it go to both with some kind of y-connector or something?

Do mic preamps have stereo output?

I have an old CountryMan DI box. Is there anyway I can use it as a workaround for this pre-amp business? It has 1/4" inputs and an xlr output.

Thanks for any tips.

Jeff
