mic for bass drum and bass amp

What mic would be best for both situations when micing a kick and a bass amp. I'm leaning towards AKG D112, friend of mine has it and ive heard how it sounds. Sounds awesome, would it do the job for bass as well? I'm just trying to keep the cost down. thanks

Beyerdynamic M88 (or the newer M99).
Electro-Voice RE (or PL) 20

All classic choices. And useable on more than just bass amps and kick drums.

I don't like the D112 too much, it's to one-dimensional. Everything you put through it will sound like a kick. And if you're trying to record some non-rock music, it's even the wrong mic for the kick, IMO. But for rock, it's an easy-to-handle mic.

The drummer of my band plans to buy a RE 20, I'll test it as soon as it's there and try to report on that.

Personally, I liked the sound of my D112 on my guitar cab for really heavy guitar tones.
