Metronoming???

Hello, all. I use Sonar, and the metronome function evaporated.

What outside programs/software (free?) do you use for timekeeping during recording?

Make four or eight bars of quarter notes on a midi track and then loop it out to the full length of the song. Use any low-cpu midi synth (the free SFZ with a GM drumkit soundfont is great).

I never use built-in metronomes and always use a midi track.

Just curious as to why you never use the built in

Seems like a lot of effort to go to when you could just mouse click or button press from a control surface
Is there some kind of reliability problem with built ins?
