Metallica question

Take Rust in Piece and you just can't find anything James has done that is even in the same book. Dave is a FAR better rythm guitar player than Hetfield.

He is also a titanic asshole who has let metal down far more than Metallica ever dreamed.

Agreed.

I used to lean 100% in Metallica's favor but after weighting both bands, I think Megadeth's (and mostly Mustaine's) impact has been sorely underestimated.

Yeah, Mustaine is an a-hole. Yeah, he was a druggie. But MAN dude can shred (and yes, better than the mighty Het.)

Lots of dudes can "shred" better than Hetfield - but who gives a shit? I'm talking the musicality of the riffs, the hooks. I've heard RIP and used to own lots of Megadeth. Daves riffs just don't move me the way Hetfields do. Never have. And I don't buy into the Metallica/Megadeth war. It's silly. I just don't think Mustaine is much of a songwriter.

I've always been a Hetfield fan and critical of Mustaine. James has done his thing and lived up to it for a long damn time. Dave, to me, has not lived up to his potential BUT his good stuff, to me, is some damn good music. Conversely, his crap is far worse than Het's bad stuff.

James is your favorite beer; everytime, it's what you expected and it is good.

Dave is a random bottle of wine; You have NO idea what you're gonna get. Could be fantastic, could be grape juice.
