The thing about the furmans is they should give you a more consistancy in the sound because they are on consistant power. Power fluxuates on a normal circuit. If youve got electronics powering up and down all of the place, even though its minor, its going to change things. Might not be a huge difference but it can. Especially with tube equipment. Imagine a tube with inconsistent power.

But besides that its just safer for your equipment. Alot of people dont realize that alot of the power strips with the surge protection only works once. Once the fuse is blown on it the protection is bypassed. And what sucks is you never really know when it blows. They arnt all this way, but alot of them are. With a conditioner youve got alot more there protecting your system in general.

Thanks for the explanation. Looks like I should have one in the budget just to be on the safe side

Btw. You dont need a super nice one really. Especially if you are not running to much gear. But its best that you get one that can run all your gear, so you can run everything through it. Make it your main power switch basically. That doesnt include amps and stuff in the other room. You might want something seperate for those.

Man, you guys are gear heads, LOL.

I still have my entry level stuff

About the units, I will say this-
The twinQ is a workhorse. It functions exceptionally well as a DI, and you get a very different sound if you compress it with the RNC as an insert, and leave the optocompressor off. I would recommend this pre to anyone, in it's pricerange.

I've been looking at the twinQ. You list the twinQCS - but i can't find mention of it anywhere. Are the twinQ/twinQCS one and the same?

Okay I didn't know if I should include the computers or not but since they are rackmountable and recording devices I figured I would.
