I see deaf people
what would you reckon

a squier custom vibe or a fender MIM?

i just need it for a little skank guitar so it doesnt have to be much more than these guys??

or is their another option in that round about $300 mark??

thanks in advance :drunk:

I think the "standard" Fender Teles are on sale at Musician's Friend for around $300 right now.

That sale must've been last week only. Nothing but Squiers for under $300 on their website now.

not trying to be funny, but, don't you do electronic music? what would even NEED an electric guitar for, out of curiousity?

i play guitar in loads of tracks, especially some of my newer stuff....

Im playing more sort of reggae orientated stuff and i think id like the sound of a tele...i use a strat or my jazz box just now, and theyre OK, but i think the tele twang what im looking for...or so ive convinced myself

It doesn't take much convincing. Once you play a Tele, you're ruined for anything else. :D

I bought a junk shop copy and had it modded, rewound pups , 4 way baja switch mod. Its just idea for riddims. Its had a good deal of work to improve it but the basic where there and i bought it for £50. Filing off the rough edges on the overhanging fret wires. filing the nut slots. all kind of set up jiggery pokery and bang i have a playable instrument that records well. and has a multitude of tones right there at the fingertips.

I just bought a GFS tele with a tweed case and shipping for under $300. It plays pretty good, though I want to take it in for some tweaking. It sounds great!! I play it clean through a peavy bandit and get the tone that I've been looking for. Hopefully, you'll hear on some songs in the near future.

Actually, come to think of it, mine was a blemished model, so it was discounted a little. Here's a link.

thanks chili, Ive been looking a GFS....though i read one complaint of a tele that was purchased not having the pick ups that were advertised....mind you at their prices an upgrade is easily affordable

and at $141 in the clearance section i might buy two lol

At your price range you should just look for a used guitar.Have you checked any local shops?

I was probably the one that got Chili interested in the GFS Teles. I played a few demos for him-and he liked the tones. I found one at a pawn shop in excellent condition, and it plays great-really has a nice high end and a Tele snap...heres a photo-

Yup, you were. It DOES have a high end, I find myself dialing back the tone knob whenever I switch to the bridge pick up.

I'm trying to learn some of that chicken pickin stuff, but I think I have to relearn guitar first. :(

DAMN YOU CHILI!!!!!! LOL joking

yeah, i was going to post this . ..
XV-820 Solid Ash Butterscotch maple Neck
before I read the whole thread. I LOVE MINE!!!!! Now, I'm not a total gear snob or anything, and an afficianodo might be able to tell you why they suck or something . . . but I really do love mine. I highly reccomend it!

my local shops are in a wealthier part of SD and the used prices are a bit of a joke.....i saw an art mp on sale for $60 in my local pawn shop lol

We have a resale chain store nearby where good deals can be had once in a while, but I sometimes see used gear priced higher than I can get if for new.

I could sell you the Tele I am about to refinish, but seeing as I don't know anything, I'd probably not know how to describe it, or what price to ask, or even identify it as a Tele. Hell, it's obvious I don't even know how to type, or use the internet, or anything...

So, it seems you will miss out on a good deal. Too bad.

I first discovered the GFS guitars through their pickups, and with the clearance and blemish models they are hard to resist-I recently bought a blemished XV-440, it's a copy of a Les Paul Special with a mahogany set neck and body with P-90's, I play it constantly these days!
And Chili, with that maple top and the Bandit-you have a twang setup that'll do fine, start stretching those strings now!

Here's a pic of mine. The neck isn't as smooth as I was hoping; not like the maple necks of some Fender Tele's I've seen. I think some kind of varnish will get me what I want. I have to research a little. they advertise that it plays like 'Butter'. I don't think that's the case, but I don't think it will take a lot of effort to make it that way. that's my goal.

It's definitely got the tone. And glad to hear I'm on the right track with the bandit. Pure luck seeing as I bought that thing like 15 years ago and it sat in storage for the last 12. lol
