MD8 Recording Question, Effects ??

First of all happy new year to all !

Can some one please tell me how I can patch effects like reverb to the head phones so that the singer can hear them selves sing with reverb/effects, but actually record them dry at the same time?

Where in the manual is this information ?
What connections should be made and what controls should be used ?

Its in the Manual....The Stereo button must be pushed down for one with the cue button up, make sure your not recording with the group activated...the Manual is step by step on how to do this stuff.

The atomic one is right on. It's pretty easy to do. I usually keep that stereo button down most of the time anyway.

Just hook up your reverb box to inputs 9/10 or 11/12 and use the reverb dial to hear the reverb. It's that simple.

I have two reverb boxes hooked into my MD8 and that can really give experimentation a ride.

Right next to my MD8 sits my Yam 2816; I'm still learning the box but expect it to replace my MD8; but I'm going keep the MD8 plugged in anyway since it is "fast" and not difficult to use.

As the Bomber said, do check out your manual too.

Thanks to you both for your reply. I will give it try tonight.

I thought I had it right but I guess not. I have it connected like it is shown on page 48 of the manual. So I am sure my problem is in what switch is in or out or what pot is turned up or down.

Is there a specific page in the manual where this is mentioned ?

Yo Pier:

The bottom two BLUE dials on your MD8 will turn up the reverb. The bottom BLUE dial would be fed from 10/11 inputs. The second from the bottom would be fed by inputs 9/10.

So, take your reverb box and plug it in as indicated on page 48 of the MD8 manual.

So, you output from the reverb box two 1/4 inch cables into, say, 9/10 on the back of the MD8. Then, you run your effects send 1/4 cable back to the reverb box and connect to the input.

Total cables involved here = THREE FOR ONE REVERB UNIT.


Make sure you turn up the AUX send dial which is also BLUE and located at the far right on TOP, RIGHT NEXT TO THE place where you put in your disc.

You can turn up BOTH AUX sends to make sure you get the right one and then shut down the one not connected. Since I have two reverb units connected, I have both AUX send dials set at about 1:00 o'clock. But, you can choose whatever level you want that suits your headphones and, later, your listen to the product before you mix it to DAT, Tape, CD or whatever.

So, your "pages in the manual" are 48 and 49.

Don't forget to depress the "stereo" button too. For the most part, you can leave the stereo button down most of the time.

This should do it for you.
