hey everybody i have a fast track pro right now... my recordings are sounding pretty good but i noticed that when i plug the red and white outputs from the back into a stereo that i get this faint whistling sound that gets quite irritating. The box has been dropped a few times, and the usb is comming out crooked. do you think that the mbox 1 will have the same quality recordings as the fast track pro??? or should i just save for an mbox 2? please respond quickly...thanks

homie, if you've dropped the fast track pro- thats probably why you're getting that unwanted sound. soundcards aren't meant to be dropped
so you can call that one kaput. However an M-box is a great choice. A lot of folks consider the pro tools to be an industry standard. Although ultimately its all in the eye of the beholder....

we've got em at my spot.

i was about to post this same question!

i heard that the mbox 2 has better preamps. i think it has compatibility issues with certain systems, though.

someone told me the m-audio fast track may be more compatible across the board.

i'm currently running a dell laptop- 1.59 ghz, 512mb ram. usb ports only, no firewire.

anyone have some insight?
