Maybe you should read this

The first thread I ever started turned into a huge battle between one of the moderators, and some guy who even posted his address, challenging him to a fight. The entire post was deleted shortly thereafter.
I love this stuff.... it's great to get good advice (I bought my cheapy mic from advice on this forum, and the people I work for say my stuff is better sounding than guys from radio in San Fran and St Louis... they're probably using RE-20's).
But I really like the flame wars, the fighting, the egos, etc....
It is fun to read it.
You will NEVER get rid of the drama on any forum. At least, I hope not.
I like smart ass replies.
I love thin-skinned people who respond with outrage.
Oh, yeah... the good advice is also cool.

My point was that you appear to have a lot of anger and of course that's not your fault and it's a shame.
Hum, well your the one who started this thread, and IMO your the one who seems to be full of anger and the one criticising chessrock and I... but, Merry Christmas.

PS... not all home recording studio owners have low-end gear. ;)

I'm not angry at all. This whole thread has been pretty cheerful from my point of view. I don't tend to get wound up like that, not cos I try not to but because it just doesn't bother me like that. To repeat again - I just think some basic niceties like not being assholes to each other would make the boards better at times. It's not a targetted complaint nor a blanket whinge.

One day I'll have high-end gear, in my home. I'm young and pretty new to this stuff although I've been recording for years. Of course I'm jealous of people who've been able to save up and get tasty gear!!

Merry Christmas to ya. I'll have a marshmallow.

have you ever got a text on your phone that you thought was serious and turned out to be a joke? it's difficult judging tone of voice just by the typed words and i'll confess i've got your tone wrong before, amongst others. sometimes people are joking and you don't realise, other times they're not joking when you think they are. take it from me - i'm not angry!

<<I think part of the problem is that I was too lazy to read more then 5 1/2 words of this post>>

i think that's half the problem with half the people on this board, to be honest. they read the first sentence of a post, skip the rest and jump to conclusions (or jump all over someone).

(of course, this is not meant to single anyone out......i'm just sayin i've seen it happen far too many times, that's all)

No joke! I was posting an entry on my blog entitled "Merry Christmas! I'm Pregnant!". It was about christmas dinner with my family and that my wife's sister announced her pregnancy. I got several responses saying "congratulations" and "Sounds like you got the best present of all!".

There are other factors operating as well. Like it or not, some people just don't write very well, and reading even two or three paragraphs can be a real exercise in tedium. That doesn't necessarily diminish the value of what they have to say, it just means they should try and keep their posts concise so that people are more likely to get to the end of them! ;)

Amen!!

mine are too, but i write quite well. or at least, all my professors at UVa all said i did. :D

if anything, i use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. i've never capitalised much of anything, though. no one letter is any more important than any of the rest. :p

i'll try to be shorter-winded for the ADHD folks out there. :D :D
