ok ...this may be long winded i apolagize for that first off...
i have a boss br1180cd recorder i know these are new HOWEVER.all these machines cant be that much different...anyway when i rcord onto the 8 reg tracks..all that i can do sound shaping wise is use the little 2 band eq on each track...when im done tracking i then HAVE to bounce down onto the 9/10 stereo track...at this point i can master ..in the master section it has a full-on entire e-q section w/those "q"settings and stuff..BUT im now mixed down to the 2 STEREO tracks...so i cant adjust the individual tracks anymore......UNLESS..and here is my question do i have to somehow do all this in "virtual tracks"??..after i bounce down to the master tracks i notice that the virtual track lights come on??...if this makes no sense whatsoever let me know and i can try to clarify...TO SUM UP......tracking(only 2 band e.q.)...bouncing(no longer have access to indiv tracks)..mastering(huge array of tools that i acan only apply to the overall sound)....anything..?.........anyone????

try to avoid using EQ when tracking. WHEN YOU BOUNCE, can you use more bands of EQ (hopefully so)? This is ideally when you'd use your EQ -- during mixdown.

It sounds like thats a basic limitation of your machine. That is why all in one units can be a bit limited when you want to get fancy.

I rarely do more than a bit of bass cut and maybe some high mid boosts for presence so 2 bands is usually enough. If you have to really use a lot of EQ'ing then there probably is a better way to get the sound you want through proper mic selection and placement.

i know what your saying about the e-q while tracking my prob is .i have all these options to e.q. but not until i am mastering at which point all i can change is the overall sound of the ENTIRE mix?..i found one of those freq. charts on here so that if say the bass guitar or whatever was muddy you can adjust the frequencies to try and fix it...but i cant once i start to master i can no longer access the individual tracks...so if i cut a freq to clear up the bass guitar NOW it makes oh i dont know the "bass drum"..wayy too thumpy lol does this make sense?

noway! please tell me this is not true...you see i am NOT good at mixing I am ok at playing ...singin sure ok too....but i need allthe options to fix my shoddy mixing job i can get ...so then most of that "frequency chart"..stuff is intended for comp based recording?/....uum...anyone have a comp based system i could ....maybe.....oh,.....borrow??..lol
