Hi Again Blue Bear.

I do realize that the ML has only two recordable tracks. That's another reason I got the mixer. I'm not sure about the balanced outputs on the mixer. I got it used with no manual. It's an old Peavey so I doubt it.

I knew the cables come made. The guy at the music store said he never heard of them. I believed him.

Ok, Blue Bear. I have this under control now.
I really appreciate your time and your easy to understand explaination.
Much obliged.

I agree with JNP. An application manual would be useful. The compressor alone has nine different parameters to set. For us novices who aren't schooled in this yet, any help would be appreciated.
I've scoured the posts in this thread but haven't found where anyone answered AEL's question.

I haven't used Masterlink yet, as I'm still recording.
But in the next few days I want to jump on to this machine and use it to burn four songs I have finished.

My question, along with the nine different parameters of the compressor setting is this.

I have a two channel compressor and feel fairly comfortable with it.
At this stage I'm not looking for Label Quality recording. I just want it to sound fairly decent.
So, when I mix with my compressor, is it necessary to compress again during the mastering? If so, does anyone have a list of the nine parameters for the compressor on Masternlink.

One more thing, I bought my Masterlink in early August. I only paid $1,090. + for it. Has the cost gone down that much or did I finally buy into a good deal?

i paid $730 for mine brand new with a 30 gig hd off of ebay.
the 9 paramaters are
1-threshold
2 ratio
3 make-up
4 attack
5 release
6 key
7 knee
8 detect
9 meter

Master link or PC

I have contiplated getting one of these but, I can't get past shelling out the extra cash, when I have several PCs available.

Besides looking very impressive in the rack, what advantages, if any, does it have over a PC?

i like to take mine to gigs to get board recordings and i like to do 2 track recordings of rehersal with it.
if you dont have a pc its the shit in my opinion.

It doesn't take 5 minutes to boot-up.... you never have to worry about OS upgrades.... and you never have to deal with inexplicable system crashes.
