Hey,everyone new to the forum and i like it.Have a dilemia when it comes to mastering audio for the final mix.the volume is never loud enough even when i use a third party software.-IM referring to the final audio on a cd.- the clip meters are always near the peak.
Any info. would be helpful
Thanks.
Shane :)

you won't get near that commercial sound. you'll have to send your tracks to get mastered

I believe theres a way,im speaking in shade tree engineering here though to clip, to a degree and acheive quality high audible audio cd.I get lucky every once in a while,I have wrote and composed over 25 songs in the past 2yrs w/ adobe aud.1.5 and est. only 1/3 are as loud as a regular store bought cd's.mixing mastering is what i have focused on for a while, now.
Its truly an ART,.....Just wondered if anyone had a secret recipe that I could add to the formula

KNOWLEDGE SHOULD ALWAYS BE PERSUED

I'm not sure what you mean, hopeless. I have just finished recording 15 songs over several months and have ended up with a CD that is as loud as most commercially released CDs, and louder than many.

To be honest, I found that it was best for my purposes, despite all advice to the contrary, to mix way into the red. Admittedly, my stuff was full-on simple punk, and probably big distorted guitar sounds cover a multitude of sins, but it has come out sounding big and upfront, yet clean. Pretty pleased. I'm way less experienced than many - no, most - others here, so I might have just lucked out. And I went through many, many remixes and a stack of CDs before I finally arrived at THE master I was really pleased with...but level of volume is certainly not a problem.

you could always just use a plugin, like the umm.. TLs Maximizer

I resolved this issue finally by using the audiohq control center for my audigy 2.never used it before and it did the job.I usually just installed driver.I dont have to use the +20db boost on the mike.Clean clear audio w/ a great improvement in vol.
Guys thanks for your input.I appreciate your help
Shane. :)

so there is not way to increase the volume once you mixdown? I dont know how to master but if mixdown and then put on CD the volume is pretty low
