I'm looking for info on the best bang for your buck CD mastering deck. What do you guys have to say? HHB, Sony, Alesis, Tascam... who's offering the best value these days. I'm interested in the Masterlink but I think the price is quite steep. There must be something out there that can do a respectable job for a decent price.

The Masterlink is half price almost everywhere ($799 or something goofy)...

HOWEVER - *If* you're mixing ITB for the mst part, I'd just get some nice PQ editing software and stay there. But if you need to go to an external deck, the ML is probably the most flexible due to the hard drive. Not crazy about the DSP though...

Mastering is one thing I'd like to keep in real time. Find myself listening to a slightly different mix when I trust the DAW to create a mixdown track, I think we rely too much on software and not the sound.
