i guess I am going to check out a pair of these - anyone know where the best place to get them is? get all the goodies that are coming to me...and the best price. heh. actually i don't even know how much they cost....less than the v67 i assume?

i got two for $110, shipping included. at 8thstreet.com.

This probably belongs somewhere else, but post your email address. I need another one.

You can get them from www.musiciansadvocate.com for $70 and that includes shipping. The next best price is 8th street for $79 plus, probably, $7 in shipping. So, musicians advocate has them beat by almost $20.

shreve audio had it for $50 last year, that's how i got mine for $55 at 8thstreet. maybe they still have it at that price.

I hate it when online retailers don't include a price on their web site. It tells me one of two things: a) they are too lazy to update pricing on a regular basis, or b) they are going to make you call them so one of their sales reps can put the squeeze on you.

what really pisses me off is that 'price too low to advertise' crap.

140 for a pair...not bad at all.

2 603's and 2 ECM8000's....about 210 bucks on Harvey's and everyone elses word...money well spent I am sure. Now I will have 3 "pairs" of mics to work with...niiiice.

Really lookin forward to learning how to use the omnis.

I wonder how the 603's will stack up to my NT3s. I like the NT3's a lot certainly - I am hoping maybe the 603's will be a little more "brilliant"

Hey wes, let me know how you like the 603s, I too have a pair of NT3's and would like someone to compare those to the 603's.

Later!

I've never heard the NT3's, but I just got a pair of 603's, and they do have a nice "sparkle" in the top. Not harsh, but a discernible presence boost. Interestingly, one of them was bought used "like new" (and indeed was in mint shape) and the other was bought in a "kit" with the 2001P from Klay Anderson Audio....got the kit on eBay for 129 shipped...figured what the hey, I'll have a 2001 to tinker with. :D Both 603's, despite coming from different places, sound *very* close to each other. They mop up the floor with the AT Pro37R's I used to use...no comparison. Superior in every respect. :)

It's not crap. Some gear companies will not allow retailers to advertise a price if it's below a certain point. I understand being frustrated about musician's advocate not printing half their prices, but, hey, if it saves me $20 I'm willing to put up with a little bit of a sales spiel. (BTW, though, the musician's advocate guy did not "put the squeeze" on me)

Sorry, guy, I didn't mean to rip your friends.

But as a suggestion -- just in case, someone - oh, I don't know - maybe IF someone here happened to have any "friends" or acquaintances with that particular web site in question . . .

YOU CAN ADVERTISE YOUR PRODUCT FOR WHATEVER YOU WANT, AND IF YOUR REP FROM THE MANUFACTURER IN QUESTION HAS ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT, TELL THEM TO STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DOSN'T SHINE.

Seriously, not advertising a price is about the quickest way to lose customers. And I always thought the idea behind selling something was to . . . I don't know . . . maybe HAVE PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUY THINGS FROM YOU ?? I mean, you'd think a few things it would be a good idea to print:

a) the product name and/or model number
b) a picture, if available
c) the price. Unless you plan on giving it away free.

I'm sorry, I wold say that not listing the price is awfully retarted, but then on second thought, that would be an insult to retarted people.

I have to agree with chessrock. I hate it when a retailer (on-line) or otherwise, doesn't post a price. Its just ridiculus not to. I don't caare if its for a $50 mic or $400,000 SSL console, I want to know how much it is! And that crap about "e-mail or contact us for a price" is total BS! They just want to put you on a mailing list.
I wont buy from them if they dont list a price. Vintage King Audio does the same damn thing, and it's because of that, that I wont buy from them.

And then you're in breach of contract. Just because you think something's "retarded" doesn't mean that retailers can break their contracts. I'm sure 8th street, musicians advocate, and Sam Ash would love to advertise all their prices. I'm sure they don't want to piss their customers off. However, they've signed contracts with manufacturers stating, "If you sell below x price you can't advertise it." Simple as that. There are retarded things that people in every industry have to deal with. This is that retarded thing for music retailers.

Well good for you! If you really feel that strongly about it, you're doing the right thing. I for one, could care less if they put me on a mailing list or want to talk to me on the phone or whatever. If they save me a significant amount of money they can send me as much email as they'd like. If they don't save me money I can unsub, and that's that.

Then they could always put "Special Price, Under $70!" or something to that effect.

Damn straight it is. Anything you do that chases away customers and hurts your chances of making a sale pretty much falls in that category, if you ask me.

Cominginsecond, why did you sign a contract like that in the first place? Secondly, why would you even bother lowering your price so much that you couldn't list it without breaching it? I don't know what correspondence course or book you read that taught you marketing, but you need to get your money back for it.

First off, I'm not a retailer. Where did I say that I was? Second off, you would sign a contract like that because it would be a condition for carrying certain products.

To increase sales. If your profits go up by having the lowest price, then it is worth not being able to advertise the price. The fact that people don't particularly enjoy having to call a retailer for price information doesn't negate the positive affect that having the lowest price will have on that retailer's sales/profits. Most people do not get annoyed enough over having to call that they will stop doing business with the company that gives them the best price. That's just shooting yourself in the foot.

I'm not saying that I enjoy calling retailers to get their prices. All I'm saying is this: if it means that I'm going to have to spend ten minutes on the phone with a salesman to save a significant amount of cash on my purchase, then so be it. It would be ten minutes well spent.
