Stop it, I can't breathe
Hey there...

Yay!

I'm stoked! I had a day off and I wrote/recorded/90% finished about 4 songs!!! :D

Unfortunately the only song that already sounds pretty OK (well, the only song I can mix while drunk) is 'Makkelijk Mens' (translates as: 'I'm an easy man'). I'm afraid I can't get any poppier than this! :) (it surely covers every cliché I could think of)

Perhaps I'll do the lead again, and I'm sure I'll mix it again (my ears are screwed up!!!). But I'm pretty happy with this result already, and that's why I'm posting it...

:D

Hey man...you have a very nice voice...even if I can't understand a word of it :p :D. Sounds quite nice to me. It has a nice bouncy pop feel to it. I've got nothing really useful to add. :D

Nice work.

Makes me think of McCartney in his better days. That is really good. And you did 4 in one day? Your a bohemoth!! :)

Excellent! -another great pop song--or at least the beginnings of one. I like the "getting better all the time" choppy guitars-I've got a song thats very similar-Of course you take it in several different directions. Is there a key part along with the guitars? Or a leslie sound of some kind? Cool guitar melody with the distortion matching the vocal. As far as the song, arrangement and performance-I don't hear any problem--and the canvas is open to do alot, or just leave it be if you like. As far as the mix-the vox could come up--theres alot competing in the mid range area-I'm sure you'll carve some space, as I've heard from your other mixes.
What no bass? you could add a cool bass part locking with the drums (which I'd like to hear more)---but anyway this is a work in progress I'm sure you'll get it figured out (when you sober up?). Enjoyable listen-I like everythiong I've heard from you.

I didnt understand a word of it but I liked it.LOL...it has beatles bouncy pop feel to it....nice little groove and the guitar soloing is good on the end tag....the mix seems like it could use more highs to give it some air..maybe brighten up the high hat and cymbals a little and that might solve that.....kinda muddy with lower mids too........bass is lost in the mix.

Of course this is my opinion.......sounds pretty good though.

Just woke up...

What?!! I did a good guitarsolo last night? Wow...normally I don't do solos, because I suck at it (perhaps I should adjust my goals: I'm a bassplayer, not McLaughlin or Zappa :) ). I was about to ask one of you guys, but if it's good I should perhaps keep it.

Jagular

Thanks! Hey, 'nothing to add' is useful information too, right? :)

Toki987

Yeah, I'll try to upload some of the other stuff today too. At least one song is good enough for premixing. It's something completely different (80s pop a la Duran Duran).

Stratomaster & Kramer

Thanks! I didn't eq anything yet, just added reverb to my headphonemix so I was sure it would suck, mixwise. With a voice like mine it takes a lot of cutting midrange and adding highs to open up the mix, especially in the huge choruses. The bass is indeed, competely lost. Again. It's good I'm a one man band, otherwise my bassplayer would fire me. :D

Today I'll add some more creative drumfills (this is still 'scratch' drums), maybe sing a lead again...

Thanks for the kind words, and the suggestions! (it's really nice you don't seem to have any problem with my dutch lyrics) :)

Hey Ped,
This is nice man. Very nicely performed and recorded. Its got a beatlesesque feel to it... ....like that alot. Nice choice of sounds too. That thin buzzy guitar works well.
Very nice vocs.... makes me wanna sing along........

...Main .....mainey trech ala borcht a lainey....

Nice work man,

Hahahahaha! :D

When I was young I sang along with the Beatles too. I had no idea what they were singing about.

Yebbeday, aw may trubbel zeem do far awayyyyyy

LOL

Glad you like!

The guitarsolo is the only thing I'm not sure of. Perhaps I ditch it, or I'll ask someone else to play it (Stratomaster?). I've just resung the leads and some of the choruses. And played the whole basspart again with a different sound. I'll post a remix as soon as I'm really 100% satisfied with it (so you can shoot at it)... :)

Hey pedullist, I dig this ! Man this is gonna be good! There was nothing wrong with that guitar solo - perfect fit. It needs more drums, but you already said you were gonna do that, right?

Twist

Whoops, I've deleted the guitarsolo already... :)

To maximize the 60s effect I will add a semi composed mellotron flute solo hooray for Sonic Implants as a replacement. It's gonna be much better!

Ok.! That's how a good pop/rock song must be. Easy listening ... strong verse, bridge and chorus ...
Good mixing too.

Not sure what version I'm listening to, but Kramer's comments pretty much nailed to for me.

Overall, I think there's a very noticeable lack of Autotune, which bothers me. Your vocal pitch is great, don't get me wrong...it's just that Antares has given the world a gift, and... oh nevermind. :D

More bass definition, more hat. :D You sing very well, and I like this a ton.

Wow, thanks Chris...it means a lot, especially coming from you! :)

More hat? I'm guessing you mean the 'hi'-type?

Again, I'll remix the song as soon as I've got some time (I have a fulltime dayjob, you know?)
