Hey there. I am new here but not new to recording. I just sent a final mix off to disc makers to production and they had mentioned that they prefer using a DDP image for production. Can anyone give me the authoritative final say on how this is to be done using PC programs? Thanks!

Probably Steinberg Wavelab helps...
but I'm not sure...

The new WaveLab (7) will indeed output DDP.

(1) I can't even begin to mention how much you should probably just go to a qualified engineer and have that DDP created...

(1b) It concerns me that they mentioned DDP -- Did you send in a properly formated, red-book compliant disc along with the proper PQ logs, etc. --- Or some disc "authored" in iTunes or something?

Just checking -- I've seen it happen and it wasn't pretty, lemme tell you...

I have never been asked for this, I always send a CD master, plus a second master as a back up if they get an error, and they sort it out their end including error checking my master, it's included in the price of the first run. I have had them ring me and say they have found an error (due to a bad blank cd run), in that case I send them a new master. I have a check function on my software but it does not check as well as theirs.

alan,

That's why I'm wondering how the original master was authored...

You will require specific software which will do the job. Such as the latest version of Wavelab (7)
or a product called DDP creator by Sonoris.

cheers
