He knows some top-notch 2nd handed analog desks ranging in price from $3000-7000, including a 24-channel Harrison.
Anyway, from my short store experience (a little fiddling and touching and listening) I think the price of the D8B is ridicoulous.
I'm in Holland, where it costs $9000!!!!!! That'll buy me 2 (!) 24 channel Ghosts WITH meterbridges! SO that's 48 channels of really nice pre-amps, + analog EQ + modular built up channels (if one channel is broke, take it out, instead of sending the whole damn board to the factory)....
Anyway, if you really want to go digitally, I suggest the Sony DMX-R100. Or go digital+analog=2x Yamaha 01V + Soundcraft Ghost = +/- $7500... Then you'll have $1500 left for a decent outboard pre.
