m-audio vs aardvark

i was wondering wat you think of this.

i currently use an m-audio delta 1010 (w/breakout box) and i use a behringer mixer for preamps. do you think it would be a good idea to sell both of those and get the aardvark q10? so basically, would this be an upgrade, or do think it would not make much of a difference...(aardvark pre's vc behringer pre's.)
 
The Aardvark's pre's are far better than any Behringers.

However, before you go looking into the Ardvark Q10, check out the Echo Mona, I've seen reviews saying the pre's were a little more clear, and overall, a better piece, plus, it's $100.00 cheaper.
 
yea, but i need 8 inputs. how does the aardvark q10 compare to the m-audio delta 1010?

so i'd be upgrading in 2 ways here...by preamps and sound card?

it has pretty good pres, i dont have it, but ive read about 15 reviews, it is totally didgital too.
 
Apart from being a better looking rack unit, and having 8 pre's....I don't think you'd really notice any real improvment with the Aardvark q10, over the M-Audio 1010...

There really isn't much diff, between units (audio quality wise) in the $600-$900 range.........Your'll have to spend at least $2-3K and up on an interface or pre, to be able to say...

IF, you want a real 'step up' in audio quality and production....one really has to spend the bucks.....there's very little difference (hardware-wise) between a $5K studio set up and a $10K one, but when ya get into the $50,000 budget, then your'll truly notice it....

Plus, at the end of the day...it's the your engineering/mixing skills and expereince (ie: with EQ, comp, etc) that will make the real diff.

but then wouldn't the better preamps in the aardvark compensate for that?

in the end, i may end up spending only another $100 or so and upgrading 8 preamps..
 
I have a pair of Q10, and skipped over the M-Audio box for a few good reasons.

One of the biggest is the Q10 accepts standard XLR mic cables, so the same cables fit all my PA gear as well as the Q10. The M-Audio is TRS only. Yuck.

The Q10 accepts LINE level inputs using TRS connectors. The input jacks are Neutrik XLR/TRS combo jack. Q10 input impedance is 2000 ohms XLR, and 1400 ohms TRS. This is far more than enough to exceed the 5x impedance minimum of all the good quality condensor mics.

I need up to 16 simultaneous tracks for live performance recording, and the Q10 seems to be a natural for this. Up to (4) Q10 can be used in a single DAW.
