I recently recieved a 410 unit that is minus a power supply. I have a universal power supply that will do the job, but I can not find any information about the polarity of the tip. DOes any one out there have the power supply and if so, is the tip + or -.
Thanks

Please someone has to have the m-audio 410. I beg you to help me with the tip polarity problem. I really want to get to recording.

The tip is both according to Google It's a 9V AC psu or it's a 12V DC with + on the centre pin. Some people are going to be very unhappy.

HOWEVER, the Manual says it is 12V DC - so a bit more found a photo and it's a branded one with + on centre!

I guess it would be best to look at the back of the unit in play. MAudio has two different versions from what I see.

This one says 9V AC 1000mA.

This one says 12V DC 1000mA. From what I find, the center pin is positive.

Now the question is: how many people are still using this 20 yr old unit? The original post was from 2006. Salty hasn't been here since 2009.

I believe many devices designed for 9VAC input could take 12VDC. Don't go the other way, though.

Probably has an internal 7809 regulator (12V down to 9V).

If you are unsure, you could open it up, get a buzzing multi-meter, and see where the connections go.
Not for the faint-hearted though.
