this is really just a frustrated post, but i dont undertstand how m-audio has [i counted] 94 products with drivers that they sell, and only 1 is copatable with windows vista. i read there posts and they claim a year ago from this time they started working on drivers for the products, and the first one they actually get is just last week for the mobile pre... i even calle dhtem and was like "i had to get a new computer, and vista is the only option, so absically am i screwed?" and the guy replys "yea"

i love m-audio,t here products have always lead me well, and before this the service help was great, but i just dont get how a company can have 94 products and only 1 is usable to a new computer....

ps- delta 1010lt is for sale now... haha almost brand new, eveyr wrapper, package, software disk, you name it is included [orignal box too]

Well, you are screwed, but can I ask why is Vista your ONLY option? Why not get XP installed, and be over with your problems with drivers for now.

cause dont you ahve to buy xp? and i tried looking in stores for it, and they stopped selling it.

and i just spent $800 ont he computer and another $600 ont eh tascam fw1082 mixer in the last 2 weeks so im really low on money right now haha

I would have done the research first to make sure the hardware will run on Vista. It's a relatively new OS and M-Audio is definitely not the only company who hasn't released software compatible with it.

yea i know, i didnt know vista was the only option until last minute, and i ahd a band comin in that weekend so i had no choice. but it's ok, its just frustrating. ive had this card for almost a year now and it's served me so well. I love it, i just want to be able to use it with my new computer.

But it's my enw mixer comes in the mail this week, so it'll all be firewire. it just would be nice to have the option to use midi with my card for the mixer, or the word clock

XP is still for sale at every major retailer out there (Best Buy, Office Max, CompUSA...).

I just saw the boxes on shelves this past weekend.

Have you even tried installing the XP drivers? Apparently there are some XP drivers that can be used on Vista.

MAudio sucks!

They were once a good reliable company that for the most part delivered on drivers. Now they are owned by the evil Avid and most likely that's who is holding them up from delivering Vista drivers.

I've got a 1010 but am seriously looking at upgrading to something different, but you can bet it will be a company that has good support....like RME/ ;)

Why would there be a conspiracy to withhold Vista drivers? Sheesh.

Vista users are on the bleeding edge right now. Music/audio related drivers and software updates can take months and months come out and become stable. That's why I never buy a new computer right when it comes out, or change to a new OS until all or most of my software is compatible.

lol maudio HATES customers. believe it or not their actual goal is to lose money.

If its a 32 bit Vista the drivers *might* work. Try it, just dont get your hopes up too high.

Theres no way Avid will let M-Audio release Vista drivers before Digidesign does the same for Pro Tools. Come to mention it, Avid themselves are behind on the video side of things, too.

All of this just goes to show the poor levels of communication between software companies. If Microsoft had any fucking sense (or gave a shit), they would have provided other developers with the information needed to develop drivers for Vista in time for Vista release or thereabouts, but instead everyone now has to sodding wait ages for drivers. But then I guess that's what's going to happen if you buy a product when it's still in beta.

Probably best that I shut up now before I write a 25 page essay on developers who con their customers into paying to beta test their product for them. *ahem Sony Online Entertainment ahem*

haha yea

honestly, whatever, i just upgraded my mixer/interface anyways so it's ok, but its a hastle. I do understand it takes a while, bu they definately are being lazy. 94 products and only 1 has a driver...

i tried installing it in like 5 ways and none work unfortunately... im just going to sell it, it's all good. ill use to put towards the debt i owe on the new computer/interface haha

i just wish m-audio would step it up. its there product, they should take pride in it. fucking lazy americans haha were just so damn lazy nowadays

okay i just bought a an moblie pre too and i have the vista driver but its beta

and the 1/8" mic input does not pick up sound at all!!

is anyone else having this problem too?

Also, consider all the crazy copy protection BS Microsoft has written into Vista, and what a headache that must be for audio device vendors to work around! Driver stability and quality has always been a selling point for M-Audio, and I don't think they want to burn their reputation by delivering unstable or broken Vista drivers.

I'm with everyone else... get XP. It isn't THAT hard to find a copy, and it's a known quantity. It also doesn't eat your entire CPU and RAM with fancy graphics and copy protection.

Personally, I'd be TERRIFIED of doing a paying recording gig with a new computer running an unfamiliar OS. Can't you keep the old one running a bit longer?

I believe it.

I've been so thoroughly less than impressed with their Mac drivers to such a degree that I now recommend "anything but M-Audio" when somebody asks me what to buy.... Nice to see Windows M-Audio users finally feeling the same pain. :D

You're kidding, right? MOTU had their audio drivers shipping for all of their interfaces a month before Vista was even released to the general public. Once it shipped to the OEMs, they took the work they had done during the beta period, did final qualification, and shipped it. Oh, yeah, and that's the company that folks used to say basically only cared about their Mac drivers.... If they could get their drivers out ten months ago, so could M-Audio. As much as I enjoy bashing Microsoft at every possible opportunity, this one simply isn't Microsoft's fault. :D

M-Audio had the same opportunities to get their drivers up and running as MOTU did. They just didn't choose to do what was necessary to make it happen. Whether that's because their driver team consists of one intern working part time, because they didn't want to beat Digi at not sucking on Vista, because their driver team is incompetent, because their drivers sucked so much ass that they had to be rewritten from the ground up to not completely bring down Vista like a sack of potatoes, because they outsourced their entire driver development to a team in Bangalore, or all of the above, I couldn't tell you, but what I do know is that it is entirely M-Audio's fault that they don't have Vista drivers across their product line.... They should have had support months ago.

You guys don't understand what happens behind the doors at Avid. (for those who are late to the game, Avid owns Digidesign (Pro Tools) as well as M-Audio)

For example. Avid ships a version of their Video editing suite and hardware with a Digi002 and Pro Tools LE, from their child company Digidesign. Only that their video software actually doesn't support the Digidesign audio gear they send with the package, nor work with it. This kind of lack of stuff runs rampant at Avid. Its a Pro Audio company ran by people who just dont get Pro Audio. They're looking at marketing and trends. And thats why you won't see "official" non-beta drivers for M-Audio before PT8 and Vista compatability for it.

Hmmm- my 1010lt and its driver (and updates) has performed flawlessly for three years. My Firewire Audiophile also works flawlessly.
