m-audio BX5 monitors? decent or junk?

I have a pair. Definitely a step or two up from computer speakers or any consumer stereo speakers for monitoring purposes. Nice clear image. Reproduction of deep bass is diminished, so it helps to have a sub to check mixes on periodically, just to make sure things are under control down there. Overall, good performance for the money and a solid first nearfield.
 
well, they finnaly arrived in the mail yesterday. I guess they are OK. very clear and the upper mids are great, but it does lack low bass. I ended up turning up the "bass" on my computers EQ a tad bit to adjust for the lack of bass. Once i did that, they sound good now. they sound nice and tight.
 
no, i ugraded to a soundblaster audigy 2 soundcard. not the greatest in the world......but an improvement in the recording sample rate..............
