Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker and I find the help and advice to be the best on the internet.

Here's my pickle:

My friend and I are recording some tracks for a CD. We had a Gadget Labs card that just died so we're planning on getting the Omni Studio w/Delta 66 setup for the PC at his place (our main recording spot). What I wanted to do was get an Audiophile 2496 for my PC here so i can record some synthesizer tracks and such (not our main recordings of Guitar, bass, vocals etc...). I have a digital video studio going at my place and just wanted to be able to record my own synth/piano stuff to multitrack soundtracks for video work in Vegas Video.

My questions are:
1. Does anyone here have a similar setup and how is it working out?

2. I'm getting the Studiophile monitors but since the Audiophile doesn't have a breakout box, will I need a external mixer to monitor or can I run just as I would with the breakout box (recording and hardware monitoring simultaeneously)?

If I need a mixer for this, would just about any mixer do fine?

Thanks in advance for any help you can spare.

i have used an Audiophile for quite awhile and it sounds great.....

no you dont need a mixer.....you can go straight from the card's outputs to your monitors.....

Okay cool...that makes it easier because I really don't need the 4-ins and outs...really 2 ins and 2 out would work so I figured the Audiophile would be better suited for that...
