M-600 Master Section Problem

I dont know about your Tascam, but my console has eight "fold-backs". They are used for separate mixes (independent of the main stereo outs) and are used to make custom mixes for different musicians (in my case). You can make up to eight mono mixes or four stereo mixes or any combination of the two. Each channel strip has level controls to route that strip to any or all of the fold-backs. Then there are master fold-back level controls in the master section. I dont know if this will help you or not.

I don't completely understand all of that. You saying you use aux sends to control these "custom" mixes? My console should be able to route the tape returns through the monitor section and supply signal to both R/L Stereo buss No?

Almost, I was describing how I use the fold-back features on my console, and they are in addition to the aux sends.

Im going to have to try and find an online manual for yours so I can see how its architecture is set up. But yes, you will ultimately to mix down the tape returns to the stereo buss.

So your board is a split console. yes the monitor section on the right will allow you to take all 16 channels (or whatever it is configured for) of tape returns into it. I dont know if you have to assign each of those monitor strips, but then the pan controls on them will place each track where you want it on the stereo mix.

Ive never worked with a split console before.

Yes it is, but no it don't. No right side audio back from the tape Rtrns. Mine has the added 8 channels.

Hmmm, Im getting a bit confused myself. so we still dont have right channel from the the tape returns, even if the jumper we installed a couple of pages ago is still in place?

I'm struggling with ways of connecting outboard gear.

mdainsd, For instance..how would you connect the monitor speakers with 1/4 unbalanced inputs? Or a tascam 302 with only RCA ins and outs, with this all balanced (Except Direct in/out) board?

Problem Solved!

The patch-bay Stereo send/rec. had never been normalized properly. The manual shows how to do this..but the diagram provided, only shows it being done to the left channel. I don't see how this board ever worked properly!

It does now!!

Thank you mdainsd, for your help it's much appreciated!!

And special Thank You to; Gary. You know who you are!

Ron

Im glad it is sorted. Its not the easiest thing to do on the internet.
