Luthiers, what do you think of this?

All you need for inlay work that isn't part of a normal workshop tool range is some very fine scribes, small point chisels and thin blade knives.

You can see all the basic tools needed in the pic below. To cut the inlay you just need a fine scroll saw and rat tail files. What you cannot make is patience and precision.. The inlay below was done entirely by hand and you can even buy a wide range of pre cut mop.

When I first started out, there were zero/zilch fancy catalogs, to pick your tools.


You learned the hard way, by watching from the "Masters".

You don't need any fancy Degrees hanging on your wall, to be a great Woodworker/Luthier.

Some of the best, had a hard time reading and writing........but put a piece of wood in their hands...........you know the rest.
