Loud Vocals on B1

Would it work? I have loud, big, vocals. Not so much screaming, but long holds very loudly. Also, would playing acoustic guitar very... violently distort the sound ?

And what would a good preamp be to run into the Delta 44?

mic > preamp > delta 44 > computer

Also, what would be better? C1, B1, or B3 in the long run, for the money.

well...seeing that it's unlikely your loud vocals come close to the Max SPL of the B1 (I don't know what it is off hand) it won't matter how loud you sing...same with your guitar Just make sure the gain on your pre isn't up to high. I suggest you play/sing while someone slowly brings your gain up till it's at a good volume and not clipping(distorting...)

will it work? absolutely.

will it sound good? possibly, but doubtful.

while i like the B1 on a number of things (amps, acoustics, etc), vocals is NOT one of the first things i'd reach for my B1 when recording. i've recorded a total of 1 singer who's sounded good on the B1, and his voice was the sort where it'd sound good through a tin can and string.

so yes, go right ahead and don't be afraid to use the B1 on vocals.....but don't be surprised when the track doesn't knock your socks off.
