So iv'e got a bunch of songs that I just mixed down. About 4 of them make this unbearably loud pop directly at the start of the song. I use Presonus Studio One and my laptop has an intel i5 processor with 8g of RAM. I tried fussing with the effects I have on the track (Compression etc.), fading the song in from the start and using a smaller sample rates. No idea what the problem is! Please help.

Thanks, Daniel

Can you visibly see the pop in the tracks? or does is happen with everything you record/playback?

There is no pop in the track and I don''t hear the pop when played back in my DAW. I only hear the pop when I mix down the track and play it in itunes.

Hi Daniel
After you have mixed the track to a stereo file ready for itunes, load it back into your DAW and see if there is a pop when you play it.
(or is that what you mean by not hearing the pop when played back in your DAW?)

If not it could be just an itunes glitch - have you bounced to disk at 44.1 kHz / 16bit?
...........though I'm certain I have played back 24bit files in itunes without any problems.

Put an extra measure in and trim it off later.

I'm actually hoping you're not putting start markers at the first oscillation...

Ok so I have bounced down to 44.1 kHz / 16bit and added a few extra measures before the start of the song. I still have the pop at the beginning even though there is no audio! I also loaded the stereo mix into my DAW to test it and the pop was still present...

Whoah. OK. That's weird.

Just to confirm, you have moved all your tracks a little to the right (for example, starting at Bar 2 instead of Bar 1) so that there's absolutely nothing kicking off at the start point of rendering (1.0.0.0) and the pop still gets added to the very beginning of the track after bouncing to stereo?

What software are you using? I'm wondering if there's an instrument plugin in each of the 4 tunes that is causing the problem?

The pop won't go away so I am just going to edit it out when I master the tracks. Thanks for the help guys!
