Lost In Translation

First of all...I love this site, and I have to say everyone here has been a great help to me. Lots of good advice....and everyone has been very friendly in their responses.

My question is, where is a good site to go to to learn all of the meanings behind all the acronyms and terms for recording equipment? All this SMPTE, APOGEE, AIO, DAW, GUI, HUI.....well....not everyone on the newbie site knows what these things are. It would help a lot of people, myself included, to find a good, conscise explanation of these terms, and what they do.

Thanks again for your help in clearing up all the confusion!

.....Google and some good key words. Try something like "recording audio glossary." There are a bunch of sites with online glossaries. Not all of them will have all the terms you are looking for but a few of them combined should do the trick. Good luck finding APOGEE, however. That's a brand name for a company that makes D/A and A/D converters (D/A=Digital to Analog; A/D=Analog to Digital).
