I didn't know which forum to post this in, at first I was going to do this in the Alesis forum, but thought that if people owned the gear, they might not be able to help me with my question.

What I am looking for is a place in the L.A. area (San Fernando Valley preferred) that rents ADAT machines for, say, the weekend. I know of one place (Astro in Glendale) that charges $95 for a weekend. I am wondering if you guys know of a place that might have better rates, or is this price pretty competitive?

Or maybe you live in the area and will loan me your ADAT for the weekend in exchange for yard work, or terrorist proofing your studio (I have experience in that) or a date with my mom. ????
Or I could give you my Les Paul or one of my DTRS machines (same animal - different media format) as a returnable security deposit for the weekend so you know I am not wanting to take off with your machine.

Anybody, please, I desparately need to get my hands on an ADAT for a couple of days. My academic career depends on it...

Thanks in advance,

Brad

2 hours at the least.

Why, do you have a loaner ADAT? If that was the case, 2 hours one way kind of throws a wrench into things.

Or do you just want another date with my mom?

Turns out I work with a lady who's husband works at a sound equipment rental place. I am gonna call him today and see if he will give me a deal because I know his wife.

Hmmm. "...know his wife" - I had better be careful how I say that to him.

I'm done with your mom..she bit me one time, so no more!!!

Anyway, let me know how it turns out. This may be a last resort for you, but it's available. Later.

"The BRAD of FUNKENSTEIN"!!!!

Sorry, I'm no help as I live in NY!

I just wanted to say that!

Hey, thanks ametth! I do appreciate the offer of help. Turns out that connection can get me a good deal, so - I think for time's sake (or lack thereof) I am just gonna do that.

Tell me something - I have never worked with ADAT - I use the Hi8 TASCAM DTRS stuff - before you work on the tape, do to have to let it run it's whole length formatting ABS time code, or do you just pop in the tape and go?

MQQ - U hittin' the brewski a little early today?

If you get a pre-formatted tape...then you can just pop in and go.

The pre-formatted tapes are only usually a couple bucks more. If this is a one time thing, I would go for that. Instead of wasting ~45 min to format a tape.
