OK.........I should know how to correct this, but don't. I have a "hybrid" home studio. Tascam 414 and computer recording with Ensoniq sound card and Cakewalk Pro Audio. I have a Behringer Mixer, typical guitar set-up, (a couple of acoustics, a couple of electrics) some effects, patch bay, etc. My question is about monitoring output from the PC as well as the Tascam, and NOT having them loop when recording. I need to be able to monitor something previously recorded, either on one or the other or both, and then use the mixer to mix an additional signal to one or the other for recording. Do I need a "monitor mixer" or what............it's driving me NUTS!

Also, can anyone who replies, use the e-mail zanes@networkcommerce.com? It's much easier to monitor that instead of this forum.

Thanks MUCHO MUCHO,

First question: Why do you use both the 414 and the PC to record to? Isn't easier and better quality of sound to use just the PC?

reply to reply signal loops

I am having trouble recording much on the PC currently due to the loops. But, even if I eliminated the loops, I am not sure my Pentium 120 with 64 meg ram will record much, but then again, I've never done this before. I have a 9 gig SCSI hard drive with Adaptec controller, and am using Cakewalk Pro Audio 6 (I know I need to upgrade to 9, but haven't got the money right now) so I was thinking I would mainly use the PC for midi with my Boss DR-5.

The further into this I go, the more it seems the answers is.............yes, but..........
