Loops: CEP vs. ACID

I have been using ACID Pro for loop editing and stacking for years, but have always found the sound quality to be lacking. I demo'd CEP the other day, and the difference is really remarkable.

Before I jump over to CEP, though, tell me:

-Can you click and drag loops into CEP, like in ACID?

-Can you structure the editing grid according to actual measures of music, like in ACID- making it real easy to paste loops?

-Can you alter the pitch of a loop/track, while maintaining tempo? If so, how does it sound? ACID has this capability, but the resulting sound is often so warbled that it is unusable.

-Are there any of you that have "converted" from ACID to CEP, and you use CEP for lots of loop work? If so, how would you compare the two?

Thanks for your help and advice!

I found looping in CEP to be a pain in the ass, but it can be done. I don't think it does the pitch and tempo changes as easily or on the fly like acid does. It seems a lot of folks use a good looping program like acid along with a better tracking program like CEP. I use both but only because I'm more familiar with acid for looping. I tend to be a bit impatient though... I go with what seems most self-explanitory. Acid is great for looping drums and stuff, then I mix down that stuff and bring it into CEP for tracking other instruments. I just tried n-tracks for tracking and it works better with my sound card than CEP for some reason, but I like the CEP interface much better.

Recwall- Thanks for the input!

Do you have any rendering tricks or tips for transfering from ACID to CEP? Do you just render as a stereo, 24-bit .wav file? Or something else?

Thanks,

Chris

yup, I just mix to a wav file and drag it into CEP or n-track. I'm pretty new at this though too, if there's a better way, which there likely is, I'm curious too. :-)
