Well here it comes. I need to work on my bedroom now to be the kind of mixing place that all of the high end mixing guys want to go.

Or at least something that will work.

One of the two.

So anyway. I go on location to record and bring my stuff back to my place to mix, so I want a decent mixing environment to work in. My room is a pretty crazy design.

Therefore I've taken tons of pictures of my walls and room so you guys can take a look and help me out. Yes I'm looking to drop some dough, but probably no more then a grand.

So, without further adou (I'm linking everything because the pictures are pretty huge):

I'll start out with the overhead view: here.

Next will be the wall directly behind me: cross section of south wall.
Here is a real view of the south wall: here

Here is the view to my left: here

Here is the view to my right: here

And here is the view of the wall I'm mixing facing: here
And the real view of the same area: here

And lastly; here's a full view all the way around my room: here.

Well. That took a little while to do. I'm wondering if the overhang across my room will effect anything terribly?

Lay it on me.

cedar closet

I'm new to the site as a member but I've been reading a lot of your posts lately and I just want to express how much I appreciate you all for taking the time out to offer some assistance and direction to us beginners and newcomers. I really have enjoyed some of your comments. (Hello Fitzpatrick). I hate to jumop right into it without formally introducing myself but I have a huge issue that has been bugging me for a while.

I am recording on a Yamaha AW4416. I have a basic Bellari pre and a Marshall MX (I think it's a 7). I have a basement with a 7x6 cedar closet in it. It's a lot of room in my opinion for the type of hip-hop/ alternative rock-stlye vocals I record. The problem is, The furnace and the water heater are about 15 feet outside the door of the vocal booth. I use Aurilex foam but that obviosly isn't enough. I get the constant hum that I know wasn't there before I moved here. (I used to record elsewhere with this same gear). I would like to know what is the best thing for eliminating or at least quieting the furnace hum. I also would like to know if styrofoam panels (probably used for home insulation) a good sound barrier. It looks loke the same shit that they make cups out of but It comes in 6x4 sheets and is an inch thich. I was thinking about putting this up between the wall itself and tha Aurilex. Please help.

I know this is around the time when Fitzpatrick hits me with a bunch of questions. I welcome it. Help a young man out. Please
