Alright, I haven't been doing this for long, but I am not a "newb" at it. I know how to set every thing up, and I know that I have a good "base" of equipment to build on.
So here is what I have:
iMac Core Duo with 2gbs of ram and 800 gig internal sata drive
Logic Pro 8.0.2
Contour Shuttle Express
Presonus Firepod (8 track firewire interface) [Got this for $100
]
300 gig external hd
MXL 990
Audio Technica Special Edition live mic (I can't find it, I will put up the model later)
Pop Filter
Behringer HPS3000 Noise Canceling Headphones
Fairly medium to large amount of cables and adapters
Two boom stands
I was considering getting some decent studio monitors with the pads they sit on. But only if I need them.
As of now, I just use the Behringer headphones..
I don't have a treated room, but will be treating one as soon as I have 250 for this kit.
I have heard that the Audio Technica ATH-M50 are great headphones and could serve as monitors for mastering with a headphone amp running out of the FP Main outs, until I treat my room..
Right now the mass of my recordings seem to be acoustic guitar with vocals, generally tracked separately. This will get larger...
Needless to say, I have a decent base to build on. I found a 4 space rack for cheap I am going to buy just to hold and protect my FP and anything else I purchase.
I want to add, but don't know what would be the best to buy next. Eventually I want to get a compressor and possibly a tube preamp.
If I posted this in the wrong place, please forgive me. This is my first post! I will be glad to move it.
Thanks,
-Adam
