Hey I'm thinking about adding some i/os to my digi 002 to get into outboard mixing. I hope to get 8 more i/os. Hoping for something cheap and decent. I'm not exactly sure if this is the wrong piece of equipment to go cheap on. With the setup I have now, it needs to have 1/4' ins and outs.

My friend has offered me a Steinberg Nuendo 8 i/o. It's the old one that only goes up to 44.1 (which is all I think I need). He's asking around $400. I was kind of hoping for something cheaper but I was wondering if I can get anything close to as good or better for less $$...

Any opinion or suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks

Unless I remember incorrectily, you can hook up at least one Alesis ADAT to the Digi002's optical connection, and get a very cheap 8 more in's and out's. You can use an ADAT that has mondo transport problems, as you are not using the S-VHS transport, only the ADAT's digital circuitry. You may be able to find such an ADAT for $25 if you are look enough.

Another vote of support for ADA8000. It's one of the cheapest ways to get 8 more channels in. I use one with a Digi002 and it works fine.-Richie

Great! Thanks everyone for the advise. I will look into all your choices and find what's best for me.
