looking for effect for this vocal..help!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out what vocal
effects Chino (deftones) is using on this song:

Hit 'download now' and then 'download' again to get the song.

The song is called "Elite". The song immediately opens with a fierce voice. Is that distortion on there? What do you think he's using?

I tried loading a highpass filter with a high mid EQ boost and adding about 5 percent distortion and it sounded close..but still sounded to 'thin'. It's like it has kind've thickness to it i just can't nail it...

any help much appreicated...

Yeah, it's distortion but that covers a hell of a lot of ground. Without knowing what they used you will probably not be able get that exact sound.

Just use what you got and make it work for your song. Or you could always email Terry Date and ask him.
