Hey! I was exactely the 100th to vote "Yes"!!!!!
who else in here can brag about that now? ? huh?

I voted for "Yes".

Before I got into my "no illegalness" stage, i had a pirated copy of Logic Platinum (i think that was it) and for the life of me couldnt get it to do ANYTHING.

I might actually buy it if i could find out how to use it...

:)

Poll closed?

I still vote YES....

YES....

Yeah. Wait until you get the 4 inch thick binder with the software. Anyway...how can you use it without the dongle??

err

Well, all i have to say is its easy to use, sounds pretty damned good, and has quite a few options, i'm a beginner, have used several, and this has been the easiest for me to use (tied with n-track maybe?)

Yeh!!! Right on time!!! Hopefully we will hear some more indepth info on it's new functions coming through reviews soon.

Thanks for reply Pisces. Have you checked your system by using some other software yet - eg a demo version of n-tracks perhaps as Gidge suggested. I'd like to know the outcome.

My 2c worth as they say a lot on this forum is not very flattering toward Logic. But I'm not up with the latest versions. It seems to me that Logic is only now applying features (eg drawable envelopes) that other companies have been using for ages because these features are commonsense and a pleasure to use for god's sake. However I would love to learn to enjoy using Logic as I have heard it also has very good features - eg audio quantising to give variation to audio takes.

Good luck with your sorry system pisces you poor devil. I feel very much for you as I am going through a "limbo" time with my system at the moment also until I get stuff sorted out and upgraded.

By the way someone mentioned on this thread about so many tracks of 16 bit/44.1 and so many of 24 bit/44.1. This may be a really naive question but when I upgrade to a 24 bit soundcard from 16 bit, does this translate to heavier CPU use? ie does 16 bit recording use say only two thirds CPU capacity of 24 bit recording? And say you use a 96 mHz rate instead of 44.1 is that doubling the CPU load? Sorry this is probably obvious to most other people.

My Sorry System???

Who said I have a sorry system?

I have a Pentium III with 933 Mhz. Now that isn't a Pent IV with 2 Ghz, but the damn thing hums pretty good for me.

I have 128 MB of RAM, again, could stand to be higher, butI'm certainly not choking down with 3 tracks of audio and a Reverb plug in.

I have a 24-bit 96Khz Delta 66 Sound card, once more, not the Ferarri of sound cards, but it sounds chrystal clear and does all I want it to do.

Logic Audio Platinum... I myself just love it!!!

Where is the sorry system?

Mike

"...it is regrettable that we will not be able to ship Logic Platinum just yet. In order to meet our quality standards we need to eliminate two bugs that became evident some days ago. Adding the necessary time for further testing, mastering and production means that Logic 5 will now ship at the end of January. However, leading Emagic retailers will receive their Logic Control demo unit and a prerelease version of Logic Platinum 5 over the next 3 weeks..."

...just read this on emagic's website. Unfortunately looks like only the control unit and prerelease version of 5.0 are out...

Pisces I like the sound of your system. I thought you were having troubles recording more than a few tracks of audio though...

Mistake

I must retract what I said earlier...

I was told that number 5 was coming out on the 7th of January. And now in true software house fashion... that date has been puched back. Now it is said... at the end of January.

I am about to go make another Poll in this forum about Logic so go vote for it everyone. And please, think about it and vote what you think you will REALLY do.

Also, yeah I was having some SHITTY problems a few weeks ago. But it was no fault of my system, other than my brain systems. I was an idiot and had a simple setting wrong. Now everything works fine. I need more RAM and a new 7200 rpm Maxtor HDD. But everything else is coooool!!!!

Enjoy guys,

Mike

yo pisces, München is one killer ass city! I'm surprized people can live to be more than 25 years old there. I went clubbing in München once during a visit in Germany, and DAMN!! You sho' keep your clubs stacked up pretty good.

Where ya from???

Where are you from Chriss? What were ya doing in Munich? I like it here too. I am from Atlanta Georgia USA so it is a big change but a welcomed one.

Not foreve, but while I am here I am holding up my own as far as enjoying myself.

i'm from denmark, i just went to munich to party.. it was mad.. almost as sick as loveparade in berlin :D
my friends showed me this huge row of clubs in some part of the city and we picked a random one.. 'twas great techno and trance there.. we had to leave early cause we had to be back in denmark short after :(

Clubs in Munich

Judging by your description that was "Kunstpark Ost". The biggest collections of clubs I have ever seen. HUGE old factories converted into Techno/Rave halls. It is pretty sick yeah.

Mike

yeah.. as big as the entire industrial quarter in our city.. sick people..
