"I agree about the Delta M-audio forum. That would be great as well. I just siwh that I knew if I got burned at the store or if I am just an idiot and can't get my system working right. "

Im not going there......I just think you need to put more effort into getting your system working than starting up a new forum here.....if you do get theLogic forum, how are you gonna participate if you cant even run Logic.....

I keep asking if you have tried different multitracking softwares....if you have answered, I havent seen it...what this will do is MAYBE show whether it is a hardware or software issue......

he gidge, the name of this bbs should be changed into 'semiprorecording.com'. There is a wide range of recording pro's but also rookies who wants to learn from the pros - but it's no 'homerecording' site nowadays. Thats fine altough i wish that there are more musicians of the electronic genre who do arrangements and such stuff (even if it's more the bedroomjustforfun way).
The reason i started to use logic is mainly to be compatible with the pro musicians and producers i personally know 'cause most of them work with logic (at least in austria and germany). it was hard to get into, but finally i know why they dont use another sequencer. I tried cakewalk before and worked with cubase for 2 years, but both can't beat logic in integrating an external midi soundpark.

a few producers who use logic: EmagicUSA link

struberg,

Im not really sure where your post is going....I wasnt knocking Logic, I was just emphasizing that he needs to get his system working instead of worrying about starting up a forum....

also, Im one of the strongest proponents of keeping a "homerecording" aspect to the BBS.....but as the bar is raised in relation to the quality that can be achieved at home, the more it will naturally sway into "semipro" territory....theres no getting around that....but Ill always be the voice for the person looking doing this as a hobby and can settle for less than pro quality , tis my specialty...nothing chaps my nuts more than someone posting a question about how to do something, has all the tools in front of them, and everyone is swearing up and down they gotta spend $$$$ to get it done....case in point:
https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35796

again, I know Logic is a highly respected peice of software, and it is well deserved....but trying out other software (in his case) just may establish whether it is a hardware or software conflict....from there we can know what to persue to help him.....

wth ... Man, I'd just contact the administrator(s) about adding a forum. If you can't contact administrators on that type of fundamental thing then something is wrong with the system imo. I only use SoundDiver for the synth and POD.

Obviously something is terribly wrong with your setup (no offense). The good news being the solution is probably just waiting to happen. I'm sure NASA would love to have your 933 PIII by the way. My 0.02 is this:

Work thru http://www.tascam.com/support/faq/pc_optimize/
step by step.

The one thing I skimped on in my DAW integration was graphics card (laugh all you want here lol). I use a board called the ABIT 133BX RAID. The AGP slot runs i think twice as fast. In order to use it I have to have a card known to not overheat with that and also to be audio friendly (i.e. not Rabidly Hog the PCI, geesh)
So I temporarily opted for a PCI card called a 'graphics accelerator'. Talk about lapse of judgement. I know how frustrating it can be and encourage you to stay course and not cut any corners. There is also a compatibility section at the Digidesign website for Digi001 users. It gives a crude idea of what amount of machine is required for 24 bit operation. I'm not sure on the sample rate. It's nice to build for 24 MONO (I initially mistook it as STEREO) 24 bit 96/kHz operation. With that I can work down and say, hmm.. now I have 48 mono tracks of 24 48.1
(tested) and 64 mono tracks of 16 44.1 (in testing) which is awesome. I wish Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band would have had this setup in the 60s.

Y'know it was temping to make a post advising that that chap needed a Neuman TLM 103 mic and Focusrite voice channel to get recording of a good quality.... I can think of perhaps a few members of other forums who would have advised such a thing. *caugh* ;)

i wish you would answer when people ask you questions....

I'm for it.

What can it hurt. I am a CW user now but all I hear is "pro tools" on tv all the time. I would like to read some of the threads that would develope and see if it brings the product down to earth or if I need to start saving my money.

Correct me if Pro Tools is not Emagic. It is all a little vague to me.

maybe we need a emagic forum?

Correct me if Pro Tools is not Emagic.
It isn't, but it is the best sequencer to interact with and to control protools. In fact it's a little tricky, cause protools also can handle midi and logic is also capable of great sounding high resolution audio in the newer versions. Protools mainly gains of its hardware signal processor farm since the power of these ProMix24 beasts outperforms any Pc or Mac a few dozen times audiowise.
While protools is mainly an audio system for recording and mixing, Logic is mainly a midi sequencer who controls all of your midi soundpark.
The most pro's uses logic to arrange and control their samplers, synth and other stuff (including the protools automation) and protools afterwards for recording and mixdown.
LogicAudio
digidesign Protools

i forgot: protools and logic interacts so fine because logic has a special interface for integrating the protools hard and software.

There are already so many forums. Why not ask why there is no creamware forum, or gigasampler forum, or pro tools forum, or soundfont forum, or fruityloops forum, or acid forum, or...

because all these products have sites, and forums already. I wish there were about 5 less in the "products" section, because it gets tiring having to scroll past Alesis, Tascam, Fostex, Event... who the hell uses those anyway?

Indead? Why not.

I say:

Yes why not ask why? If the server can handle it why not?

This is a wonderfull place where many people of many different circles can interact. Just like You might have an echo card and, CW or Cool edit, or VST. Don't you think that it is nice to have the interactivity? Chances are that here someone has the same combo. Thank god for the pro's too. They might not use a certain product but they are still willing to discuss it, and why they do or don't use it.

I like the fact that I can look into a number of products in one place. I might read the a forum on an event product or a fostex product to see if i might like it.

I also like the fact that this BBS is not sponsored by CW, Stienberg, Event.

Let the demand set the forum. I do not mind burning two extra calories to scroll past something I my self am not interested in.
Some day I might be interested and then I will know where to go.

See if there where a protools forum I would have not been so ignorant in my previous post. I would have read and been educated.

F.S.

This thread

This thread in and of itself is proof that a Logic Audio Forum would be quite useful. 92 to 7 say yes. And I am sure that some of the 7 are just people that have Sonar, or Pro Tools etc... and wouldn't need it anyway.

This is a good point; but, the other Logic forums kinda suck for the average user, especially beginners:

-You can't ask a basic question because it's probably in the manual and most of the posters will only point that out w/o offering any explanation.

-Then they'll chastise you for not trying harder to understand the 2" thick manual. I think the manual is pretty good; but when it's bad, it REALLY sucks, and sometimes you just can't understand it or even find the info.

-Also, they just aren't as fun. They have an uptight vibe.

I think a Logic forum here would definitely fill a void.

Just to let ya know

just to keep these 2 posts on the same page.

Logic

Right ! How in the world could anyone actually vote against Logic...really !! I equate Logics brilliant program as good as my Bang & Olufsen Hi Fi...it just doesn't get much better.
