Here is a live mix that I did in Conn. - television Channel 3,s *Better Conn.* With this amazing band *Remember September*.

If your interested I can list the board and rack components and microphones that I used that day.

I'm not sure how the video mix down was done, but it seems to capture the full intensity of the mix with little alterations to the final over all sound.

What do you think?

I thought the sax or whatever the f*ck that thing is was a bit loud and the distorted lead sound could come up a bit bother than that it was great! :D

That's how they like to have it sound, the sax up front and the guitar as a secondary.

sounded great to me...id have the distorted guitar up but like you say its their shout...

Id be interested in the gear and process you used for this.....Im starting to get a bit of kit together and have a small venue nearby that has young local talent (oo er missus) on four or five times a week...i wonder if its an avenue I could explore in the future

:)

Thanks KC.
I'm not sure if the video is a mix of the board feed and the mic on the camera but it does sound a bit weird to me in that respect.could be that it is now in a MP3 format.

The equipment was as followed....
Midas 16 channel console that I just love for the pres and the EQ section.
Into a Klark Tecnik 31 band EQ - then straight into 2 Bose L1s that doubled as house speakers and monitors.

Vocals had inserted Drawmer compressor/gate/limiters. As did any instruments that required any ...Bass and sax.

FX on vocals...reverb was a eventide eclipse / delay was TC electronic D2.
FX on drums and sax reverb was TC electronic M1.

Microphones...Vocals Shure beta 58s / sax Shure beta 57 / guitar amp Sennheiser e609 / bass and acoustic guitar DIs were Radial JDI / DRUMS kick drum mic Sennheiser e602 / overhead mic (1) Shure KSM 141 / snare ATm25

I don't think I missed anything.

Good work. But I see the sax guy blowing...and see the drummer crashing cymbals....but I don't hear the sounds in the mix. A little disorienting. Maybe edit to sync??

I don't know if it's because of youtube or what but there is so much compression that it's almost painful to listen to. It sounds like a dead room with all of the air sucked out.

I believe that is because my sound went to the television studios main mix to go out on the air waves and that is where the video person got his copy of the audio from.
I try to look (listen) beyond that. But now people will get a glimpse of what happens to a mix once it get into the hands of radio or televisions compression.
For I or anyone else will have a say over that.
And maybe utube has a hand on that as well.
I do know that all of the techs after the show was asking me what was under the hood as far as processing and FX for they felt is was extremely good.\
