From yesterdays show. I had nothing to do with the recording, other than being one of the violinists in the band. This was in a huge cathedral downtown, there are about 25 players on this. For enjoyment purposes only, its one noisy audience.:D

This is a piece by Vaughn-Williams called "Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis". Its a short excerpt. Live

Sounds great David.

Audience noise, yeah sure... you gotta stop coughing and sniffling while you play.:D

Dude that's pretty awesome. Sounds really good for a wide open room recording. Needs more kick drum. :D

Very cool  The recording turned out pretty good. Nice room sound. Gotta love the sound of those real strings...You guys are pretty good ;)

It would be hard to avoid the audience noises, especially at this time of year.

Any details on how this was recorded, #mics/positions. Where were you sitting - on the altar or down in the pews area, or is there an orchestra/choir area?

:D:):D:)

I can hear some kid picking his nose!
Some audience noise makes it real I suppose. Not the most settled crowd though.
A nice sound for a big room - was it designed for acoustics or for magioreligiosity?

Thanks for listening Tim, Greg and Gerry.:)

No clue.:D I didnt even know they were recording, I got this via email.

We sit in back on the floor and they turn the seats around. They arent pews, they are chairs. I dont know why they do it this way.

Ray snuck in, thanks Ray.

I dont think there was an audience member under 70.:D

It is a "brown bag" concert. People can buy a lunch and eat while we are playing. We do these about once a month.

Sounds really nice...somber. The cathedral sounds great too. How many folks in attendance? And of those, how many had a cold?

Do you notice those sounds while performing? I am guessing no.

Nicely recorded. I got a great 3-D sense-- especially one of depth-- even with just my laptop speakers.

I have that same damn cough/cold/flu/allergies thing and I have to sing Rutter's Mass of the Children on Sunday. :o

Our Soprano section leader's husband is recording it. I quizzed him a little during warmups and he said he'd be running Sonar with LDC's over the cellos, SM81's in front of the soloists, and who knows what else. I offered one of by heavy duty counterweighted studio stands to use and he took me up on it. I'm worried about the overkill factor, but I think our audience will probably just be impressed by the whole pro look and not really care.

Our 1820's sanctuary (think classic white clapboard new england meetinghouse) has an elipsoid dome-- I would love to hear what a spaced pair up in the back corners sounded like-- the whispering gallery effect of the dome might really bring in a great sound right there.

Needs more cowbell. Maybe a couple blast beats.I'd bump the V-drums in the 400kh. LOL.............. This really sounds amazing on these shitty speakers. I could only imagine what it would sound like being in the audience. Then I wonder how it sounds coming from someone on stage like yourself. Probably amazing. I'm without words.

Thanks for listening unet, Obi and Joseph.:)

The cowbellist blew off the gig.:D

This place was built around 1900 and has a lot of stone. I have never heard anything from the audience POV, I was surprised it sounded decent. Usually these places are too muddy.

nice sound, pity about the audience and the fact it seems biased towards the right.
