Linking to other sites?

Is there etiquette involved in linking to a website from your own? For instance, if I want to link to a radio station in my area, should I ask permission, especially if I'm using their logo, or is it ok to just create a text link to their site?

You can just create a link to theire website, if you are using their banner, it obviously has to link their site, and at the bottom of the page where you place or copyright infomration, state that the image is not copywritten by you, this isnt a law, or etiquette it just covers your ass because most pages say "all images/content copyright 2005-2006 etc. unless otehrwise specified" thats is specifying otherwise
 
You don't need permission to link to anyone. If you're using their material, then yes.

So does that mean I need to ask their permission if I'm using their logo(s)?

True, but you still legally need their permission if you want to be technical about it.

I may just use text links, then. I don't want to get into any trouble.

Although I have already had two folks tell me that it's ok to use their logos.

I have never seen a janitor at a radio station. What do they do? Disinfect the boards?

So far, I have permission to use the logos for a website, and a message board. I still need to contact a clothing company (I've purchased online from them) and see if I can use their logo, and a radio station here (although I don't think the station would have a problem). The logos I can't get permission for, I'll just replace with text links.

Thats usually how I do it, If you want to link to my site you can use the logo, download it from our myspace (www.myspace.com/cyanidedependency) send me a link to your website, Ill post it in my links section, if you want me to use your banner, send me a link to that too :)

the website is www.cyanidedependency.com as long as the logo links there, put it where ever you want :)

I got the OK from the radio station! It was much, much easier than I thought! The answer I got was "no problem". Cool!
