Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help this particular newbie record. I ask from a position of general ignorance so I'll explain what I do in fine detail.

I am trying to record guitar and singing into a lexicon omega, put into a pc, and through the software Cubase.

at the moment I plug the lexicon in and i can see that it commandeers the computer's sound, setting itself up as 4 seperate USB connections in the sound options on my pc control panel.
It also shows on the lexicon: when I play through its 4 jack ports or sing into the mic port in the back (and when the USB recording on the front is set to the correct port) the lights that register clipping light up, and light up further as I change the volume knob. If i plug my guitar into the front port, which corresponds to the lexicon '3', I get hordes more volume, for no apparent reason.

When i come to record in cubase, I get no signal at all. I have tried all kinds of changing the VST connection, changing the corresponding ports in the 'input devices' set up, resetting the device and swapping recording ports from the lexicon. I have it set up to 'write' in cubase, but i the device records nothing and the recording vanishes (it doesnt just leave however many seconds of nothing) when i stop the recording.

When I start up Cubase i get this error message:

exception processing message c000000a3 parameters 75b6bfc7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c
'cancel' 'try again' 'continue'

Can anyone help?

here's a breif log of how i've dealt with the problem:

lexicon is registering as 4 seperate usbs (i image that is four for each port, though not sure about the mics)

i tried with the mic first, plugged in to port one and two.
added a track in cubase, made sure write was enabled.
on the lexicon the mic gives a faint signal from Mic 1, with the red 'usb assign' button for usb 1-2 lit up.

no signal registers on cubase, and when recording, no waveform is put in regardless of
how loud the singing is. when i stop the track, it vanishes rather than saving.

went into devices> VST connections and removed the default stereo bus,
replaced it with mono bus, for 1,2,3,4.
then i tried a guitar into the back in position 1, and a guitar in the front, which syncs (seems to)
with position 3, cycling through each of the Mono input settings in the VST window.

the signal is faint when the guitar is in the back and much bigger, and can clip, when the guitar is in the front
port. the lexicon has lights reading -40,-20-6 clip, that light progressively as the guitar is played harder.
the back inserts only reach -20 however hard.

I also resetted the omega in devices VST audio system, but not every time i made a change.

if i remove the lexicon, does sound come back?
how about if i change sound settings?

went to asio directx full duplex set up:
saved screen grab.
then i restarted cubase.

started cubase again with directx changes.

get error message ' drive not ready' again. have screengrab.

opening again makes VST connections default back to stereo left: 1, right 2

changed to stereo, 3/4.

tried 1 and 2, 3 and 4. got nowt.

moved jack into line 1

nothing.
