I haven't been around for a while. It's time for me to start looking for some good mics and maybe go with a computer based studio. But this setup has been really getting the job done for demoing.

Just my mix position...broadband absorbers coming soon, building them myself.

Probably something along the lines of a 4" between the speakers, a 4" on the wall with Bob on it, and then a 6" on the wall behind me (1m70/5ft6" away)..

Why do you use a control surface? Is it easier than using a mouse, or can it do things that the mouse cannot?

I've seen lots of them for sale but I've never understood why anyone would need one. Can't the software already do it all?

(no offense, I was just curious.)

RawDepth theres something liberating about using physical controls over mixing ITB. The Mix becomes less calculated and more spontanious and typically much more satisfying. I know this will be debated till the end of time but seriously try it some day, I think you'll be more satisfied mixing at a mixer or with a control surface.

As far as the control surface goes, it is definitely much easier for me to have individual channels and faders to control. The main reason I bought the Tascam was because it was basically an all-in-one unit capable of handling everything I needed to do.

As far as Facebook goes, that was supposed to be a "public link" so you shouldn't be able to access my account. If you really can, please let me know and don't change anything unless you are going to make it really embarrassing...

Newbie around these parts, and relatively new to recording, but here's what I've got thus far:

When I get a rack back from a friend, all effects on the right side, as well as a few others still packed away, will go down below where the V-Bass is, and a power conditioner will go in that empty spot on the left.
This is very much a work in progress, and a first attempt, but I'm happy so far.

The two upper sets are for mix checking & because it just looks cool

Thanks, Obi! I still spend much more time over at TB, but thought a few people here might dig that, as well. That amp is the first piece of gear I ever had GAS for, and I finally picked one up 12 or so years later. Now hanging around here is giving me all sorts of GAS I'd never thought of!

ok..i am 15 years old so building my own studio has been a huge difficulty for me because i cant just "build" a studio...so i had to settle for a shed that we have outside...at the beggining this place had plywood as floor and had no insulation whatsoever...plus it was full of crap..since i "moved" into the shed....i made a second floor so i could put all that up there..on the pics you cant really tell that there is a second floor..but beleive me there is....i also had to get a job and work my butt off....this is about 1 years worth of stuff that i have bought...and dont say that i am spoiled because i have worked for every bit of this equipment....

the shed is 12x8 so it is a pretty small place...plus i devided it into two rooms...but yeah...the division is just a couple of plywood boards and some blankets on them...its "supposed" to be a live room and a control room...hehe..
i am on a low budget so dont make fun of me...hehe..
