very nice collection, though that tan wurly looks sad out in the hall. :(

I know. I feel bad. Ever since I got the 200a, the 206 has taken a back seat.

I'm a bad person :(

Which is rather funny, since I'm not a great good keys player! Keyboards can be found for so cheap, and each one is a completely different monster, so I can't resist building a collection :)
LOL! I have an electric violin and cello amongst other instruments I can't play, but it hasn't stopped me yet. :D

New placement

Hi All,

Well i finally got everything moved around. Here's some pics of now. I am waiting on the soundproofing material for my bass traps and the two resonators. I don't like the sound i'm getting in this direction thou... the bass is more bouncy. I have a krk s10 sub and had to turn it almost to the point of being completely unheard to get a solid sound without the bounce. I am also having an issue with the noise from the fans inside the pc.. mostly the rear one. Is there a way to kill the hum from the fans outside of moving it somewhere else? I really don't have anywhere else to put it.

You think you could make those pictures any smaller? :p

the rear fan? you mean the pwr supply if so, try dusting it out. or maby get a new one (pwr supply, not fan), if it's a case cooling fan, and you got money to spend try investing in liqued cooling. or what I did for a while, glue some sound obsorbtion matirial on the inside of the case (make shure you don't cover the air holes. it dosn't do too much, but it helps.

hope this helps.

The acoustic materials, sound"proofing", is something totally different, just had to clear that up.

Just wait till you get the bass traps, should sort out your bouncy bass. It might be 'cause in you new position you are in a spot which experiences more peaks, whereas the other you had nulls. Also 'cause of reflections. I don't really know, but the bass traps should help with that.

Anyway, your new setup should do wonders for your stereo imaging, and with the long space behind you, should help a bunch with you mixes. Might just take a bit of getting used to.

Maybe you should take a measurement (frequency response) of you're place now, and then again after the bass traps are installed.

Try cleaning the fan like rick suggested. Did it not cause a problem before?

Opps Image sizing

Hi,

Sorry for the small images... i took the pics at a high resolution so when i made them smaller it really changed the size. Here's a bigger photo. I also removed the front fan on my pc and that did make a big noise difference. I don't like the idea of water and electronics so i don't think i want to do the water cooled pc. I found an article online with lots of sound proofing ideas and i think i'm going to try a few of those things. THanks alot guys!!

Best way to sound isolate your pc is to put it in a sealed box. Something with mass, like MDF or something. Obviously you will neeed to install fans to keep it cool. But this will create a problem, 'cause the sound will just leak out the gaps. This is something like a design posted about a year ago, i think by fitz.

keys questions for disco

DISCO- Awesome! I have that same Moog mg-1, and a Hammond Spinet (mine's an m-2, tho-- think urs is m3...?) (a hammond A is in the works..) I also have that student model wurly.

Question-- how do you get sound out of that student wurly? I haven't started messing with mine yet.

Also, Did you know that those things connected to a "mothership" wurly in the classroom that would show the notes lighting up as they were played? I wonder if someone could take that signal off that 8-pin and retrofit it to send midi...

Yup, it's an M3. Good to hear about another MG1 on this board :) Seems that people here only have romplers!

Shoot me an email to the address that I PMed and we'll do the power supply. It's easy as pie.

How old does someone have to be to have that nice of a studio (lost one..) if they don't record for a living. Or will I dream for the rest of my life. :(
