Here's my little analogue studio. Just a Tascam 488mkii on a keyboard stand. Upper rack has an 8 channel preamp and Sony wm-475 mix down deck. Then an old JVC receiver to run the Realistic Minmus 7's. I'm just starting out and wanted to do analogue on the cheap(ish, that 488mkii will run about $400 these days). Its fairly compact and sounds pretty good. I have a Boss ME-50 that's doing most of the outboard effects. I bought 100 20-minute tapes from National Audio Company a year ago, just before they ran out of chrome tapes. and cause of a mixup later I got another 100 tapes. They give 5ish minutes which is plenty for most of my songs. I can then label those to keep track of them. Using this as my only recording system at the moment. Cheers.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with my setup. I just wish I had more time to play. I work almost 30 miles from home so I'm gone from ~6 A.M, to 7+ P.M. I lucked out recently when my work replaced all the computers I managed to snag a couple 27 inch displays to replace the 21s in the pics. Here are some more toys. Plus I have stuff down stairs. I'd do this stuff full time if I could afford to, these day's it's just when I should be sleeping!

I had new windows installed in my room today. You don't realize how much 'stuff' you have accumulated until you have to move it! With windows closed, this is going to cut way down on the street noise issue (not that I needed to worry about it except when a motorcycle or loud ricer went by).

It's the little things... I need to get me some more magical stuff and a lava lamp...I do have a late 80's Tesla type globe that is audio activated with purple lightning bolts in it.. I do need to get me a better chair fo sho!

Here's my studio-in-progress. It has to double up as the guest room which eats up a lot of otherwise useful space, and is awkwardly located between the bathroom and utility room, but can't complain. The acoustics, err, lets just say there's room for improvement.





The underlying desk is just a stock Lundia piece, the detachable extension on top is self-designed and -built just this January. The extension consists of two separate pieces, the main thing has two builtin 4U racks and 8U rack on top. It's all a bit wobbly as the desk was never intended for anything like this, one of these days I'll need to bolt the whole thing to the wall...

You just have to screw a light crossbrace between the top and bottom of the legs at the rear of the desk.
