Man, have you no shame? No pride? You are a pathetic little creature. Did the other children pick on you and call you names when you were a child? Can you not tell that people don't particularly care for you? Are you so in need of attention that you will stay some place where you are ridiculed and made fun of? I really do feel sorry for you. I check it but I'm not qualified to comment because all the playing time I have these days is playing out. When I finally get my man cave back up and running I'm gonna have some mad skillz for you to critique...

Yeah but you guys are keeping it alive. If I ever pull my head out of my ass and start playing again it's good to know I have a place to drop some ugly noise. It's too bad the first one got all fucked up. We had a good thing going for a while there. My bad for starting it in the fuckin' Cave. :facepalm:

Well, that would be awesome, but to be honest, that thread really isn't about playing. It's just about tones. Experimenting, goofing around. No judgement. Just tones.

Haha, it didn't start as the tone thread though remember? It was you bringing up Ronson, who I agree is awesome, then we got to talking about how he got his tone, his gear, then it just took off. If anyone fucked it up, it was me for getting banned and fucking up the flow.
 
It's a good thread & I read it often to get ideas on set ups to get a good sound = particularly mic placement.
I've not recorded any decent guitar for a while so haven't posted my usual whiny bit about improving my sound.
I did think the other day about posting a song clip to demonstrate and ask about tone within the mix.
Perhaps that may be a way of expanding the scope.
in the meantime I'm happy to drop in, listen and occasionally comment on the samples.

Yup - good times, man. I was beating my head against the wall trying to capture that Ronson edge - you really hear it in the Moonage Daydream fadeout. And then Slaughter came up and segued to the Ventures and oh boy...shit was on. We even had El Tee playing Mick Ronson riffs. lol

Yeh I know but at present I don't even have the space to put up a mic stand. The kids are at an age where they are taking all the spare space we have and that has meant my man lab has gone at least until I can do all that decorating and relocating shit.... I have to get everything out and setup, record and then breakdown again. Not good but it will change...
 
I called the thread "Tone to Die For". I assume it's still kicking around in the bottom of the cave somewhere...

Closest I could get was the Plexi cranked, a quarter-cocked wah and an eq pedal set level but with the boost turned up.

Yeah, it was slaughter on 10th ave. I still can't play it right. I did get a Plexi reissue though. :D

I remember Randy Cline coming in there to show his ass and act like a bitch, like he usually does with everything.
 
Ronno used the Pig - Marshall Major, a Vox Tonebender (priced any vintage specimens lately? lol) and a Rangemaster I think - some strange relic of the day. And of course the LP Custom. I've got that part covered at least.

Fuck...here we go.

Ha haa...he was futzin' about with pre-amps and gain staging or some bullshit. Sounded like ass but I tried, really I tried, to be nice about saying so.
