Oh yeah...the ribbon mics? I think I paid about $100 each for 'em, but that was a group buy a couple years ago. I don't think they can be had that cheaply at retail.

Here's a Stellar RM-3 on ebay. Looks to be the same thing. I'd bet our group buy mics came out of the same Chinese factory:

Funny thing is, I didn't end up using that one. I think the ribbon's loose in my--it flopped even more on the low end (to my ears, anyway) so I used a different group buy ribbon mic--the equivalent of this one:

Here's the first version done as a stereo mic:

I know that different tones push me in a different direction

I think this is the case with any guitarist. I'm a metalhead, and darker distorted tones will make me right some evil stuff, where as a brighter, softer tone will make me go extreme glam :D

A couple pics. Man, that flash really shows the dust! And ignore the stompboxes--they're just getting in the way. None of them are in this recording.

Yep, I turn into Spanky McQuacks with my Strat and clean tube amp!

Ahh, nice - the RSM-4 is my poison of choice on guitar cabs.

I've never tried more than two mics at a time - I'll have to try that sometime, but at a bare minimum I'll be experimenting with adding a SM57 or i5 in to support the RSM-4 a bit in the high end.

I've had the same experience, BTW, with ribbons - especially if you're pushing any serious volume, even with a pop filter to take the edge off the air movement you really don't want it super close to the cab because the low end just gets out of hand. Pulling it back a bit, 2" or further, seems to help control the lows while keeping the high end a little more airy.

BOSS ME-30!!!!! What a pedal! :D

Yeah, I was actually it with a Digitech delay pedal--the ME 30 has a decent delay, and I was seeing which I liked. Meh, they're about the same. I don't record with either of 'em. Just like a little delay on the leads when I'm jamming.

I used to get a pretty good rhythm tone for metal out of it, although since my BC Rich Warlock has succumb to the powers of physics, it doesn't sound so good with the shitty Les Paul knockoff I'm borrowing.
