hi,
I'm trying to get going on recording. I have a laptop though and want to record on it. I have looked for external laptop sound cards, but nothing seems to exist, so i will try and record on the most likely pathetic sound card it does have. How can get my laptop enabled to record with my mixer and mics. I have pro-tools and cake walk... but need to know how to get connected right. I have a 3.5mm mic jack to work with. Do i need direct boxes or anything or can i just get a quarter inch to 3.5 converter?
any help would be great....

I haven't used them but you might look at the ECHO Layla and the ECHO Mona... Both models can use PCMCIA cards.

DO NOT USE the MIC IN

Use the LINE IN.

Also you an purchase an adapter to convert your 1/4" tip to 1/8" or you an buy a similar cable.
