I saw a thread about the Motif and in there, along with praise for the Motif, was a cryptic reference to the Kurzweil. It appears that amny feel the Motif is the keyboard of the day for real and acoustic instrument sounds. But, I gather this is also true about the Kurzweil, however, the Kurzweil is close to twce the price of the Motif. Ae there reasons to pick the Kurzweil over the Motif. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

They are both sweet boards. It just comes down to what you like. The one plus for Kurzweil is that the K series hasn't really changed all that much in several years and I assume that you can use the older sound libraries with the newer boards.

One downside to the Kurz is that they have pretty limited polyphony compared to many of the newer boards.

You should be able to get great results with either one so follow your heart.

a keyboard doesn't like to be called "sweet", mind you...
Huh?
What do they like to be called then? Sour?
Or how about Choice? Responsive? Expressive?

"cool" or ... "da bomb" ... you know, a keyboard has its pride like any man...

JackHammer,

the kurz & the motif are really beasts of different burdens, I believe. I'd guess the references made to the Kurz is due to the great sounding acoustic instruments on board - I think the K-series is kind of legendary for this - and the Motif has done a good job of including some decent acoustic sounds. Perhaps the reference is also to intimate just how decent[/i[ the motif acoustic sounds are, you know, give a point of reference.

Kurz over motif... if so, then probably because you want/need a pretty large stable of good acoustic sounds, as well as all of the groovy synthesis possibilities, deep sound libraries, etc...

Best I can say it, since that's about all I know (in less than 150 words)...
If anyone else can help you out, better for you, but that's a start...

I'll check again & offer more if you're still a-wonderin'...
