Kurzweil/Roland question...AAACK

Hello everyone. Hopefully someone can help me, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I've had a Kurzweil K2000 and Roland JV 1010 for a while now and im trying to see if its possible to change the patch on the 1010 from the Kurzweil. Unfortunatly i'm thinking that I need a computer based sequencer to do this but i'd like to just use the sequencer on the kurzweil if at all possible. When I send a track from the kurzweil to the 1010 it switches the patch to one that is not even close to the patch im trying to use. If anyone might be able to offer some advice on how to choose a specific patch on the 1010 I'd greatly appreciate it.
 
I can't say specifically, because I don't have a Kurzweil at home. But check in the JV 1010 manual first in the section where they discuss program changes or bank select stuff. In order to change the proper bank, you will need to send a series of systex program change messages from the K2000. You will need to enter a controller MSB number (0) plus it's value AND an LSB number (32) plus a value for it to properly change a patch at the right bank. The values differ for every synth, so you have to check the manual. Once you find that, you'll need to check the K2000's manual to the places where it discusses how to write/send systex programs from the K2000 to another module/keyboard.

Ahh ok. That helped alot thanks. Do you know if its possible to send sysex messages in the middle of a song playback? Fairly unimportant until I can find the 1010 manual and the RIGHT manual for the k2000(Apparently I only have the Sequencer/Sampler manual) but it would be good to know for future reference. Thanks again for the reccomendation. Hopefully I will get all this midi stuff figured out in time hehe.
 
Yeah,you should be able to do Program Changes while the sequence is playing.I do,I find that it helps to place the messages an eigth note or so before you want the new sound to kick in so the beginning of the 1st note doesn;t get cut off.
