I just played with the new Korg Triton and liked it quite a bit.

More than anything the touch screen display is pushing me to buy it. Other than that I simply adore the sound of a Motif.

I have been told that there are expansion cards that can be added to the Triton to get Motif sounds.

Is this true?

I looked around the internet for an answer to your question.

I couldn't find one. However, it seems to me that if one product could emulate the compitition (to a certainty) that the compitition had either sue for infringment OR the compitition goes belly up.

Of course there are ways around such things, just renaming signature sounds (usually by NOT TOO cryptic code terms or puns) is on such way. Happens all the time.

I don't think that you're going to get "two for the price of one" by getting the Triton over the Motif.

That's just deductive reasoning talking, I could be wrong.

Sounds like a pushy salesman trying to take advantage of a less informed customer to me...

Sure the Triton allows for wave expansion cards. Yamaha and Roland do the same, but you are not going to get the same exact sounds as the Motif.

I would take the Motif over the Trition anyways. Once you turn off all effects Korg uses, the raw sound sounds like crap. I have found that not to be the case with Yamaha's and Roland's.

I love Korg but the more I listen to the Triton/Karma the less I like them. They just sound too thin.

I do like the Motif. It has some pretty sweet sounds. I havent really used either in a studio so I cant say for sure, just listened to them at the store a few times.
